The "Flip's Fund"
The "Flip's Fund" was established shortly after Philip "Flip" Merwin passed away from a snowmobile racing accident in January 2003. As a result, the fund was set up to benefit children with critical illness, and for college marketing programs.
Since the original fund was established, additional funds have been made from other great events such as a memorial stock car race at State Park Speedway, as well as a memorial golf outing sponsored by the Rib Mountain Business Association. Private contributions have also been added.
The Wausau 525 Snowmobile Championship will be held on January 26-27, 2008. The proceeds from the event will go towards the fund. All of the contributions to "Flip's Fund" are used for scholarships and to help children with critical illness.
